Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little about the Municipality of Russell Binscarth.
With a population of approximately 2200, the municipality includes two urban communities and a former rural municipality. Located along the western edge of Manitoba, our picturesque landscape is a mosaic of hills and valleys, rivers and lakes, wooded areas, and grain fields.
Agriculture remains the economic driver, home to both grain and livestock production. Two inland grain terminals, a canola crushing plant, and numerous implement dealers are located within the municipality.
Russell is the business and service 'hub' for the municipality. Unique shops, home and clothing stores, numerous restaurants, accommodations, and everything in between is offered. There is truly 'something for everyone'. Within Russell, there is an acute care hospital with five physicians. Hemodialysis and chemotherapy, as well as other community health services are available.
Binscarth, ten miles south, while having fewer businesses, offers quiet residential living and is home to a performing arts group. Binscarth is known for having the largest outdoor swimming pool along the Yellowhead highway.
Both communities offer schools, recreation centers, service clubs, day cares, and senior services.
Recreation activities in the municipality are limitless. From organized youth and adult sports to family fun activities. Swimming, boating, fishing, skiing, dance, and the list goes on! Our love and commitment to the municipality is evident.
As mayor, I invite you to visit and understand what we have to offer and why we wouldn't want to live anywhere else. If you would like more information or have questions about the Municipality of Russell Binscarth, please call our office at
